| | The accomplishment is to ascend the 7 highest peaks around the valley over 6 days with 1 rest day and on the way enjoy the scenery, culture and history that each summit offers. Distance will not be the focus but reaching our peak and the journey of the day will be with ample leisure time to take it all in. You will travel in all 8 cardinal directions around the valley to the extremities of the valley rim and enjoy the views of the Himalayas and valley rewarded only to those that have completed this tour. It’s a rare club of mountain bikers that hold the certificates for this accomplishment. Until 2008 the 7-summits accomplishment had been limited to a handful of pioneering expatriates. To celebrating your accomplishment an 7-Summits Merit Certificate will be awarded after conquering the last and toughest climb of all.
This is a rare mountain biking feat that will afford many a story of the trials of the trails that each day delivered. There will be the chance to explore some of the secrets of the valley that don’t reach the travel books given they are way off the tourist map. Nobody other than those on mountain bike would ever have a reason to explore them.
Kathmandu at a 1350-m altitude is Nepal’s largest city, and its capital. A lake once filled the Kathmandu Valley and ancient myth tells of the Bodhisattva Manjushri draining the lake with his sword at Chobar (near our bike route). Today the unique topography of this valley - ringed by 2000 +meter hills and dotted with villages - offers the mountain biker endless areas to explore without ever leaving the relative comfort of the capital city. In addition, the Kathmandu Valley is the historic center of Nepal and with it is packed with history and culture.
In the Kathmandu Valley, there are four great towns: Kathmandu, Patan, Kurtipur and Bhaktapur They were all once independent kingdoms with powerful kings. But in 1743, King Prithvi Narayan Shah unified the different states into one within 15 years. |
