This cycling expedition from Leh (Ladakh) to Manali (or in reverse) is staged in the Karakoram & Zanskar mountain ranges, so it’s no wonder you’ll cross four of the world’s highest mountain passes and witness some of the most varied landscapes found on any Himalayan trip. This 306-mile adventure will be one of the ultimate challenges for any experienced cyclist.

Our group will either start by flying from Delhi to Leh, or driving from Delhi to Manali (depending on which trip you chose). Leh is situated above the Indus River at 12,000 ft., isolated deep within the Karakoram and Zanskar mountain ranges. Time will be spent allowing our bodies to acclimatize to the altitude and getting some warm-up rides along the valley’s well-paved roads. Known as “Little Tibet,” the Ladakh region is rich in Tibetan Buddhist culture, with monasteries standing as guardians over the stark, beautiful landscape of windswept sandstone.

The serious cycling will begin on day five, with a 30km ride. The most miles ridden during any single day will be 60km on day eight.

The highest pass we’ll cross, Taglang La (17,475 ft.) is the world’s second highest pass that can be crossed by automobile, which makes things convenient since some of us will prefer taking the support vehicle.

As we continue down in altitude heading for Manali (6,800 ft.), the landscape changes from arid sandstone to alpine meadows. Manali was known as "Queen of the Hill Stations" when it was the playground for the British. Now this area is the vacation site for many people looking for relief from the heat of summer. After our long ride, you’ll enjoy the unspoiled beauty of this natural wonderland.

This is not a trip for the faint of lung! Nevertheless, the strenuousness of the trip is more than offset by the uniqueness of the ride. That’s why some of our customers have returned up to four different times to experience this journey again and again.
