Back in 1987 a long time expat to Nepal had the idea that the mountain biking phenomena that had started out of Miame USA (the home of mountain biking) and spreading across the trails of the world faster than a downhill racer might have a place in Nepal. The changes now taking place in bike technology were the greatest that had occurred since riding on 2-wheels had been invented. That person was Francis Higgins whose vision for biking in Nepal was right. The rugged frames and fat knobby tires fitted the Himalayan terrain ideally.

Trekking was already a hit in Nepal but adventure sports were still just a dream being awakened and the visionaries of the region were realizing that Nepal offered everything to the adventure seeker.

By 1988 Himalayan Mountain Bike Tours (HMB) was established and HMB was pioneering the trails into Kathmandu Valley. Mountain biking was the 1st adventure activity to be offered as a tour outside of conventional treks and white water rafting was soon to follow. The concept was new to the locals and no guides existed. Guides were trained, trails established and equipment imported…..  tours began. .....
